Liberate 1.2

ntl is currently rolling out a new version of the Liberate "TV Navigator Client" (STB browser software which enables interactive services). At the moment, the platform consists of both Liberate 1.1 and 1.2 client versions.

Key changes:

  • Liberate automatically starts running after the STB boots up and some content required for interactive is stored permanently on the STB
  • Users should find that Interactive Services displays faster from pressing the interactive button
  • The 'Electronic Programme Guide'(EPG) and TV Guide functionality is now run using Liberate

Info for Content Partners/Providers:

  • Existing Live TV Internet content has been tested by ntl against the 1.2 client. Any new content delivered to our platform is also tested against the 1.2 client.
  • As Liberate 1.2 is meant to be backwards compatible, the requirements listed here on the developers website should be adhered to. No NEW 1.2 functionality should be used until ALL ntl's DTV STB's are running the 1.2 client (the developers website will carry updates)
  • However, check the "How to" section frequently for bug/compatibility updates. A new page called "Liberate 1.2" will list these. An overview of 1.2 content migration issues will be available soon from the "downloads" section.
  • Download the new Emmy v1.2.74 and check content for any minor display issues
  • For the main development work, use the Emmy v1.1.57
  • IT IS RECOMMENDED THAT ALL NEW CONTENT IS CHECKED ON BOTH LIBERATE 1.1 AND 1.2
