Before you download:
Pre-requisite Requirements (minimum)
Hardware:
166 Mhz Pentium PC, 64 Mb RAM minimum
Software:
Microsoft Windows 98 or Windows NT (workstation or server – service pack 3 or higher)
Network:
The Emmy client has to connect to DTV Connect Suite servers (located at ntl) over the Internet to function. The Emmy client machine must be able to establish a socket connection between itself and the DTV servers on port 8080/80 and 9093. The client machine cannot go through a Caching Proxy Server firewall (though it will work through a Network Address Translation/IP masquerading server). A possible alternative is for the Emulator (Emmy) to be installed on a PC connected to the Internet outside of a firewall (this could be an NT development web server).
Check with your Network administrator that your company firewall will not restrict access.
Installation instructions
Do not attempt to download this application if you are using DTV Navigator software - use a standard internet browser.
Download and extract the two files emmy.exe and an install file (rtf)
Double click on the icon emmy.exe
The emmy executable file emmy.exe will be installed along with its dependencies, in C:\Program Files\ntl\emmy\
Create a shortcut to emmy.exe on your desktop
Double click the icon representing emmy.exe to start the client emulator
Two windows will appear, the console and the application.
The ntl browser bar and a field to type in a URL will appear in the application window.
If this does not appear, please check your network access again, before
contacting ntl Partner Support on digitaltv@ntl.com.
You can access any website URL using the developers' browser bar.
Press F5 on your keyboard and Exit to return to the type-in URL field.
Please note the DTV Navigator software is closer to Netscape browsing technology than Microsoft IE. If you experience problems with the Emulator software use Navigator as a preferred alternative to develop with.
