The Security server provides:
- an SSL gateway used when HTTPS is required
- SSL-based server authentication (SSL v2.0 & 3.0, multiple CA support)
- Key exchange
- Encryption (40 or 128 bit)
Requests from the set-top box to the Security server are 128 bit encrypted; however information is then passed from the SSL server to the Translation server 'in the clear'. The data is re-encrypted before leaving the Translation server's SSL gateway and going onto the web.
This server does not cache content before serving it back to the client.
