  • Use the NTSC filter in Adobe Photoshop: (Filter - Video - NTSC colours) and/or reduce the saturation to 80-85%

This may not be enough for all single colours (strong red/green/blue/black/white) or colour
combinations

  • You can make further adjustments by using the Hue/Saturation control window in Adobe Photoshop (Image-Adjust-Hue/Saturation)

When combining different colours consider the following:

  • choose 'shades' of the same colour;
  • don't combine colours which are opposite each other on the RGB spectrum
  • adjust the colour(s) you're using so that the RGB values are closer together, and further from the extreme Hue settings (0, 255)
  • NB: you are not restricted to web-safe colours
