page layout
  • Design to fit content within TV safe area (640x400 pixels)
  • Design to fit text within text-safe area (584x468 pixels)
  • Design to fit content within a non-scrolling page
  • Keep the number of visual elements to a minimum in order to create a clear, simple and uncluttered page
  • Keep text to a minimum, keep it concise and to the point (also minimise text entry in forms)
  • Position links in such a way that the yellow bounding box:
    – is always completely visible (i.e. all sides)
    – does not obscure any other text or relevant content
    – wraps around each link with an appropriate amount of space to ensure link is clearly displayed
  • Ensure elements are appropriately aligned
  • Locate elements in a consistent place on each page (e.g. navigation)
  • Design to fit content beneath the ntl browser bar: do not place "foreground" elements (e.g. text, titles, logo etc) too close to the browser bar; leave a minimum of 10 pixels
